Original images held at Great Lakes Museum The remains of the twin-screw steamer “SS Allenwood” built by Ernest Wright for Allen Taylor and Co. wrecked on Bird Island Beach, near Budgewoi N.S.W. The vessel was wrecked on 14 September 1951 and was originally intact until being burnt by vandals in about 1958.
